HEALING CEILING ARTWORK

At Kastner Design Associates, we specialize in high-quality large color prints of Hawai‘i’s valleys, streams, hidden beaches, lush forests, pali, trees and flowers. Our series of individual processes and techniques help us to capture, print, frame, and deliver spectacular views of Island beauty to our clients.
It is our goal to bring relaxation and the healing power of natural images to those who view our artwork.
We are developing a new collection of images specifically designed to be viewed by patients who find themselves staring at the ceiling during treatment or a hospital stay. They might range from dental patients to bed-ridden long-term patients, to someone receiving treatment in an emergency room .
Our intention is to provide, with these ceiling pieces, as with all of our photographs, a place of visual rest and refreshment. Incorporating images of natural subjects into your medical facility has a number of advantages. The environment as a whole benefits from the welcoming, uplifting and refreshing comfort of natural imagery.
Patients, visitors, and staff appreciate and benefit from the calming atmosphere generated by viewing the photographs.
Placing this ceiling artwork in treatment areas can facilitate patients’ positive visualizations, offering them a path away from negative states and temporary relief from stress and anxiety. Our clients have told us that the ready con-nection with nature that we supply facili-tates healing and well being.
We will be producing these images as 2' x 2' or 2' x 4' panels to coordinate with your existing ceiling. Any suspended ceiling with wide or narrow grid “T’s” (see illustrations
at right) will accept this product. Ceilings with concealed grids are unfortunately not suitable.
We utilize only the finest photographic papers for producing our images. These photographs are acid-free mounted to an Armstrong™ 868 or 870 Fire Guard ceiling tile and feature our characteristic Exhibitex glazing. Exhibitex provides a glare-free coating, protecting the piece against soiling and fading, while letting the color shine through.
To install our ceiling artwork, simply remove the existing ceiling tile from the desired location, then replace with the artwork. Quick and easy! Once in place, maintaining this product is easy as well – a simple dusting is all that is needed.
Outstanding print quality is an important end product at Kastner Design, and decisions we make from the very start effect the final quality of our work. We have chosen to use cameras with a large film area to minimize the overall enlargement and to render a finer grained print. We have invested in the highest quality lenses for both our cameras and our darkroom to once again deliver maximum sharpness and color accuracy.
We use Fuji Crystal Archive paper to make our prints. It is by far the most stable and long lasting paper of its type, giving a long return on your investment.
Our commitment to quality is also reflected in the design and service portions of our business. It is our continuing goal – through our combination of business-like attitude as well as our artistry – to more than fulfill your expectations.

Our initial direction for our ceiling art has been upward views into Hawai‘i’s flowering trees.
We are collecting input from clients and the general public regarding suggestions for other ceiling artwork subjects. Your ideas would be appreciated. Send us e-mail at info@kastnerdesign.com .

Elevator Ceiling Artwork

These elevators are used for patient and visitor transport in a major hospital. We were commissioned to create ceiling murals that would lighten and open up the confines of the elevator, while providing inspiration to all those who view them. This goal is especially important for gurnied patients moving to and from testing and surgery, as the ceiling is their primary viewpoint.

We will gladly quote fees for special services.
